MIDLOTHIAN, TX – An 18-year-old Midlothian man is facing felony charges after allegedly stabbing a teenager during a fight at a city park Wednesday evening.

On July 16, 2025, at 8:39 PM, multiple 911 calls were made to the North Ellis Emergency Dispatch Center reporting a fight between two Black males near the baseball fields at Midlothian Community Park, located at 3601 S. 14th Street. Callers stated that the argument turned physical and one of the individuals pulled a knife. Witnesses reported that one subject was cut during the fight before it ended.

Midlothian Police Department patrol officers arrived at the scene at 8:43 PM. The suspect had already left the park with three other individuals. The victim, identified as 17-year-old Dylan Almanza of Ennis, was transported by friends to Methodist Midlothian Medical Center and later transferred to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. He remains in serious but stable condition.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the park and hospital, conducting witness interviews and collecting evidence. Their investigation identified the suspect as 18-year-old Christopher Robert Nienhuis of Midlothian.

A warrant was obtained for Nienhuis’ arrest, and at approximately 5:15 AM on July 17, officers with the Midlothian Police Department’s Warrant Service Team took him into custody at his residence in the 400 block of Brook Meadow Drive.

Nienhuis is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury with a Deadly Weapon, both second-degree felonies, and one count of Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
