On July 26, 2025, at approximately 2:35 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting in the 4400 block of Maple Avenue near the Hospital District. Upon arrival, officers found 44-year-old Augustin Espinosa unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived on scene, but Espinosa was pronounced dead.
Officers located the suspect, 43-year-old Robert Simmons, in a nearby area. He was arrested and charged with Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Violation of Bond Conditions.
The circumstances and motive behind the shooting remain under investigation. The case is being documented under case number 106414-2025.
