DALLAS – The ninth annual Texas Latino Comic Con will take place Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas. The free, family-friendly event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will spotlight the 25th anniversary of the syndicated comic strip Baldo, created by Hector Cantu and Carlos Castellanos.
This year’s convention will feature a special panel with Hector Cantu, celebrating Baldo's legacy and its portrayal of Latino family life over the past quarter-century. The strip has earned acclaim for its humor and cultural relevance within the Latino community.
The event will also bring back live lucha libre wrestling, with Texas Latino Comic Con Champion Bengali el Divo returning to defend his title in a high-energy match. Local wrestlers and comic creators will join in the performance, continuing the tradition of merging Latino comics and lucha libre entertainment.
Texas Latino Comic Con founder Hector Rodriguez, also the creator of El Peso Hero, noted the significance of the event. “Celebrating Baldo’s milestone and bringing back lucha libre with Bengali defending the title makes this year’s event a true testament to our community’s creativity and spirit,” Rodriguez said.
The convention will also include artist workshops, comic creator panels, and vendor booths featuring local Latino businesses. Among the vendors is Mundo Mascaras, a family-run business from the Dallas-Fort Worth area offering specialized lucha libre merchandise.
