FORT WORTH, TX – A homicide investigation is underway following a deadly shooting early Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, at the Buena Vista Motel located in the 2900 block of N Main Street.
Officers with the Fort Worth Police Department were dispatched to the scene around 6:00 a.m. and found a male victim inside his room with at least one gunshot wound to the torso. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
Detectives determined that the suspect arrived at the motel with several individuals. The suspect knocked on the door to the victim’s room, which was answered by a witness and then the victim. After a brief exchange of words, the victim closed the door.
The suspect then returned to a vehicle and retrieved a handgun. Moments later, the suspect returned and fired multiple shots through the closed door, striking the victim. The victim was identified as 30-year-old Joey Jay Salinas.
The suspect and the group fled the scene. A short time later, they were located at a nearby business. Officers detained the other occupants and arrested the suspected shooter. He is expected to be booked into jail on a murder charge following an interview with detectives.
The Fort Worth Police Department Homicide Unit is continuing the investigation.
