Mario Molina, chief of the Irving Fire Department, delivered a presentation to IISD trustees during their regularly scheduled meeting April 2 regarding the service and accomplishments of Luis Hernandez, intern for Irving Fire Department during the 2011-2012 school year.
The Singley Academy student intern training experience program (SITE) continues to provide students with relevant, real-world experiences related to their specialty through community partnerships.
The City of Irving provides a number of internship opportunities for students in a variety of occupational clusters, including Engineering.
As a current intern for the City of Irving Information Technology department, Luis helped build working maps which enabled the Irving firefighters to validate locations of fire hydrants throughout the city. Luis' role in the project has not only served the Fire Department, but the Information Technology and Water Utilities departments as well.
