McKinney, TX – On Saturday night, August 30, shortly after 9 p.m., the McKinney Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Joshua Tree Trail, just south of Gabe Nesbitt Community Park.
The caller reported flames in the master bedroom of a two-story home. When crews arrived, heavy smoke was pouring from the open front door. Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack on the second floor.
During the operation, one firefighter became disoriented and ran low on air, triggering a “MAYDAY.” Nearby crews immediately conducted a coordinated rescue and safely removed the firefighter from the home.
In total, nine firefighters were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from smoke inhalation to overexertion. Officials confirmed that all have since been treated and released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
