The Fort Worth Fire Department provided an update on Firefighter Caleb Halvorson’s condition on September 8, 2025, following the incident that left him with multiple injuries and serious burns. The department thanked the community for the outpouring of support, prayers, and donations for the Halvorson family.
Despite sustaining severe injuries, Firefighter Halvorson is in stable condition and has been moved from the ICU to a step-down room in the burn unit at Parkland Hospital. He is scheduled to undergo three back-to-back surgeries on his knee, which must be completed before any shoulder repairs can begin. Additionally, no surgeries can proceed until third-degree burns on his leg have sufficiently healed.
While his pain is currently managed with medication, skin grafts and physical therapy are causing significant discomfort, taking both a physical and emotional toll on Caleb and his family.
The Fort Worth Fire Department also clarified several false social media rumors. Contrary to posts circulating online, country singer Morgan Wallen has not contacted the family, visited Firefighter Halvorson in the hospital, or donated $250,000. A legitimate donation site through “Help a Hero” remains available for those wishing to support the family: Help a Hero – Caleb Halvorson Fundraiser.
The Halvorson family expressed heartfelt gratitude for the messages of comfort and support they have received. They also shared positive news that their newborn son in the NICU is gaining strength every day.
“The road ahead for Firefighter Halvorson is very long, but he is fighting hard,” the department stated. “The family is humbled by the community’s encouragement and generosity and asks that you continue holding them in your thoughts and prayers.”
In a special moment, Lieutenant Troy Gallagher, who was injured rescuing Halvorson, visited him at the hospital for the first time since the incident.
