Dallas, TX – The Dallas Police Department confirmed the arrests of two of its officers in unrelated incidents earlier this month.
On September 4, 2025, Officer Scott Simpson (#11830) surrendered to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department on a warrant issued for Unauthorized Release of Body Worn Camera Recordings, a Class A Misdemeanor. Simpson has been with the department since September 2019 and is currently assigned to the Central Patrol Division. He has been placed on administrative leave while an internal investigation is conducted.
The following day, September 5, 2025, Officer Cesar Rangel (#12461) turned himself in to the Denton County Sheriff’s Department on a warrant from the Elm Ridge Police Department for Assault – Family Violence, also a Class A Misdemeanor. Rangel joined the department in September 2022 and serves in the Northeast Patrol Division. He too has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
Both cases remain under investigation.
