Dallas police are investigating the in-custody death of a suspect who was arrested following a shooting incident Sunday night.
On September 21, 2025, around 10:25 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of S. Hampton Road. The preliminary investigation determined the suspect had attempted to enter a home when a single shot was fired.
The suspect was arrested for criminal mischief and transported to a local hospital for treatment of a superficial injury. After being medically cleared, the suspect was taken to the Lew Sterrett Jail. While there, he suffered a medical emergency and was again transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Community Police Oversight have both been notified.
This remains an ongoing investigation.
