Former Belton Teacher of the Year Arrested for Invasive Recording of Students

Pietro Victor Giustino

BELTON, Texas—A former Belton High School teacher, already facing federal child pornography charges, has been arrested on state charges for illegally recording female students.

Pietro Victor Giustino, 39, was arrested on Monday by the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Bexar County. He is charged with invasive visual recording of several female high school students.

The arrest on state charges stems from an FBI investigation into a separate child pornography case that led to Giustino's arrest on July 18. During that investigation, the FBI discovered 13 cellphone videos showing "invasive visual recordings" of several students without their knowledge. The FBI shared this evidence with the Belton Police Department (BPD).

With assistance from Belton ISD staff, the individuals in the videos were identified as Belton High School students. Parents of the victims have been contacted by either the BPD or the school district.

"Anytime a juvenile is the victim of a crime, we take it very seriously," said Belton Police Chief Larry Berg. "We will pursue justice for any victim of a predatory crime."

A Justice of the Peace issued two warrants for Giustino on September 17. He will be transferred to the Bell County Jail at a later date. The videos in the federal case did not involve local students.

In 2022, Giustino was named Belton ISD Teacher of the Year.
