On October 7, 2025, at approximately 6:10 p.m., the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, along with multiple emergency response agencies, responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting possible drownings in the Brazos River near Hamm Creek Park.
Deputies and first responders launched an immediate search and rescue operation. Tragically, two children, ages 5 and 7, were found in the water and pronounced deceased at the scene a few hours later.
The incident remains under investigation.
“The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this tragic time,” the department said.
