KENNEDALE, TX — The Kennedale Police Department announced that 35-year-old Jackie Lee Allsbrook, also known as “Pokey,” has turned himself in on Tuesday, October 7, in connection with the fatal shooting of 43-year-old John William Kirkland. Allsbrook was wanted for murder and aggravated assault offenses that occurred on Saturday, October 4.
Allsbrook was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Tarrant County Jail. Bond has been denied, as he was on parole for a prior conviction.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Gilman Road, where Kirkland was reportedly shot with a shotgun following a brief altercation. Kirkland was transported to a hospital in Arlington, where he died approximately one hour later.
The Kennedale Police Department expressed gratitude to the community and thanked the Mansfield Police Department, the Tarrant County Crime Scene Unit, and the U.S. Marshals Service for their support during the investigation.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
