Dallas Police Gang and Narcotics Units executed a multi-location operation resulting in the arrest of two gang members and the seizure of a large quantity of firearms, drugs, and cash.
The investigation began on August 4, 2025, when Dallas Police responded to a shooting in the 4500 block of Hamilton Avenue. Gang detectives conducted a thorough investigation and identified 30-year-old Derek Betts as a suspect. Search warrants were later developed for related locations.
On September 9, 2025, the Dallas Police Department SWAT Unit and Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant in the 4500 block of Metropolitan Avenue. Officers recovered 14 firearms, approximately 12.7 kilograms of marijuana, roughly seven pounds of Ecstasy/MDMA, about 90 ounces of Promethazine, and $8,469 in U.S. currency.
Derek Betts was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a third-degree felony. Additionally, 29-year-old Terrell Lockridge was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Probation Violation – Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Both individuals are documented gang members.
This successful operation highlights the collaborative efforts of the Gang Unit and Narcotics Unit and reflects the professionalism of all officers involved. The case will be submitted to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas for federal prosecution.
