Construction Progresses on Irving's Largest Fire Station, Set to Open in Early 2026

Construction is moving quickly on what will soon be the largest fire station in Irving, the new Fire Station No. 8.

The $15.3 million facility is being relocated from 650 E. Las Colinas Blvd. to the site of the former DART Transit Station at 5601 Riverside Drive. The modern, 19,579-square-foot station will sit on 2.8 acres and include four pass-through apparatus bays, a full kitchen and day room, fitness and lodging areas for on-duty personnel, and a multipurpose space that will serve as both a voting center and a fire department training room.

Additional features include a boathouse and fireboat to service properties around Lake Carolyn, as well as an all-terrain EMS vehicle for Campion Trail emergencies.

The new site provides more space for current equipment and future fire safety advancements, while moving operations away from the nearby DART Rail Orange Line.

Construction is expected to be complete in early 2026, weather permitting. View the ICTN report on the update.
