Corsicana Police Arrest Armed Suspect After Hostage Standoff

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at around 6:24 p.m., Corsicana Police responded to a 911 call reporting a physical disturbance in the 200 block of Gladstone Avenue.

While officers were on their way, the caller reported that a woman had fled the home and that a male suspect had pointed a firearm at her. The situation escalated when it was learned that the suspect was still inside, holding a gun to his girlfriend’s head.

When officers arrived, they found the front door open and heard a man and woman arguing in a rear bedroom. Officers moved quickly through a narrow hallway, where they found a woman sitting on the floor and a man wearing a ballistic vest with ammunition magazines, holding an AR-style short-barrel rifle.

Officers issued verbal commands, and the suspect raised the rifle toward them. An officer fired his weapon while moving to avoid being shot. The suspect was not hit, and officers were able to subdue and detain him without further incident.

Police said the confined space made the situation extremely dangerous. The suspect was taken to the Navarro County Jail and faces multiple felony charges.

In accordance with department policy, the involved officer has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal review. The names of the officers will not be released until the investigation is complete.

“I would like to personally commend the officers who engaged the suspect and did not hesitate to put their lives on the line for our citizens,” said Chief Robert J. Johnson. “I would also like to thank our Telecommunicators for obtaining vital information and providing rapid updates. God was watching over us tonight.”
