TARRANT COUNTY, Texas—A Tarrant County jury found 53-year-old Jose Agosto guilty of Indecency with a Child and sentenced him to 20 years in state prison, the District Attorney's Office announced on Tuesday, October 28th.
Agosto was convicted for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old relative on multiple occasions. The abuse came to light after the victim bravely disclosed the assaults to a teacher at her Birdville ISD school.
Due to the victim's place of residence, the Richland Hills Police Department took over the investigation. During the trial, the jury learned that Agosto had prior convictions for burglary and theft in Florida.
The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Lauren Lawrence and Elizabeth Haratsis.
