Irving Police Involved in Shooting

On June 10, at approximately 1:04 a.m. the Irving Police Department responded to the 3700 block of Block Drive (Brookstone Apartments) for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived they located one adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. While investigating the shooting, officers were told that the
suspect responsible for the shooting was still in the area. Officers started to set up a perimeter in order to contain the suspect. As officers were doing so, they were confronted by a male who was armed with a gun.

The male pointed the gun at officers and it appears as if there was an exchange of gunfire between the male and the officers.

After the gunfire, the officers moved to cover due to the possibility of additional suspects. The Tactical Team responded and searched the area for the suspect. Tactical officers located the male who was suffering from gunshot wounds. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male who was originally shot by the suspect was transported to Parkland Hospital and is in stable condition.

No officers were injured during the shooting. The identity of the suspect and victim are not being released pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation is in the initial stages; therefore, limited information is available at this time.
