The local Chapter of AMBUCS is proud to announce the crowning of their first Lil’ Mister and Lil’ Miss AMBUC. Matthew Shipley, son of Michael and Sissi Shipley was crowned Lil’ Mister Ambuc and Tatum Taylor, daughter of Damon and Shelly Taylor was crowned Lil’ Miss AMBUC for 2012. Lil’ Mister and Lil’ Miss AMBUC will participate in Irving’s Annual Fourth of July Parade which will begin at 9:00 a.m. on July 4, 2012 in downtown Irving.
AMBUCS is a non-profit service organization consisting of a diverse group of men and women who are dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities. The local chapter of AMBUCS meets every Thursday at noon at Los Lupes Restaurant in Irving Mall.
Matthew and Tatum will be involved in the presentation of Amtrykes to disabled children as well as in the assembly of Amtrykes.
Amtrykes are unique tricycles, which can be hand and/or foot operated, designed to accommodate riders of all ages, sizes and varying degrees of physical limitations.
The Irving Ambuc Chapter gives away over 100 of these Amtrykes each year – at no cost to the recipient’s family.
Entry forms for next year’s Lil’ Mister and Lil’ Miss AMBUC will be on the irvingambuc.org website later this fall. The 2013 Lil’ Mister and Lil’ Miss AMBUC will be crowned at the Irving AMBUC Fashion Show held in April at the Irving Heritage Center.
