Two People Die After Overnight House Fire in Burleson; Investigation Underway

BURLESON, Texas - Two people have died after an early-morning house fire that drew a multi-agency emergency response to a home in the 600 block of NW Douglas Street, according to Burleson Fire/EMS.

The fire was reported around 12:33 a.m. on November 23. Medic 3 arrived first, followed within moments by Battalion Chief 1, Engine 1 and Medic 1. Crews found heavy flames and smoke pushing through the roof. Firefighters immediately launched an interior attack while conducting a primary search, operating under the assumption that occupants may still be inside.

A neighbor told the Battalion Chief that residents might be trapped. Mutual aid units from the Crowley and Fort Worth Fire Departments were requested, and an additional medic crew was assigned as a Rapid Intervention Team. Crowley firefighters and a Burleson medic crew deployed a secondary attack line.

Engine 1 completed the initial search of the home’s main living area and found no one inside. Truck 16 then located two adults in the garage. Both were quickly removed and turned over to medical crews for treatment. CareFlite Ground EMS and Crowley Fire assisted on scene, and both victims were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Later Sunday morning, Burleson Fire officials confirmed that both victims had died of their injuries. Their identities have not yet been released. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will work to officially confirm who they are and notify family members.

The blaze was contained without damage to neighboring homes. In all, 21 fire units from Burleson, Crowley and Fort Worth responded.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Burleson Fire Marshal’s Office with assistance from the Tarrant County Arson Task Force and Burleson police.

Officials extended condolences to the families affected, calling the loss “a tragic event” for the community.
