DALLAS, TX - A disturbance call in the early morning hours Monday led to a deadly encounter in Downtown Dallas, leaving two people dead and several others injured, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Police were dispatched around 2 a.m. to the 2000 block of Commerce Street after reports of gunfire and a disturbance involving multiple victims. When officers arrived, they confronted an armed suspect believed to be responsible for the earlier shootings.
Police say the suspect refused to comply and an officer involved shooting followed. The suspect was struck and died at the scene.
Before officers arrived, multiple people had already been shot. One of those victims was pronounced dead at the scene. Others were taken to the hospital, where they were listed in stable condition as of Monday morning.
No officers were injured. The Dallas Medical Examiner's Office will release the identity of the deceased at a later date.
The shooting remains under active investigation.
