Teen Arrested in Mesquite After Food-Delivery Driver Shot in October Disturbance

Mesquite, TX – A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with an early-morning shooting that left a food-delivery driver seriously injured.

On October 27, 2025, at around 12:23 a.m., Mesquite Police responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Birch Bend. Officers found an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds and immediately provided lifesaving care until Mesquite Fire Department personnel arrived. The victim was then transported to a Dallas-area hospital for treatment.

Investigators learned the victim, a delivery driver, became involved in a disturbance outside a residence, during which an unidentified male approached and fired at him before fleeing on foot.

Following the investigation, authorities identified the suspect as 17-year-old Ledavion Sockwell of Mesquite. On Monday afternoon, November 24th, Mesquite Police executed a search and arrest warrant in the 1400 block of Regent Street. Sockwell was taken into custody without incident.

The case remains under investigation by the Mesquite Police Department Major Crimes Unit.
