Johnson and Somervell County, TX – On December 1, 2025, the District Attorney’s Office announced that 25-year-old Hunter Lane Doty has been sentenced to two years in state jail, the maximum for his charge, following a probation revocation for Criminal Mischief.
The case stems from a 2021 road rage incident in which Doty slammed on his brakes, causing another vehicle to crash into the back of his truck and become trapped underneath. Doty then dragged the vehicle a short distance, recorded the incident, and posted the video on social media. While on probation, Doty failed to comply with the terms of his release, resulting in the revocation.
Doty also has a prior conviction for Animal Cruelty after surveillance footage showed him repeatedly abusing a goat, throwing rocks, kicking, striking it with a pole, choking it, and slamming it to the ground, ultimately causing the animal’s death. The goat was later disposed of by Doty in a trailer and discovered by law enforcement.
The DA’s Office issued a statement emphasizing the consequences of reckless behavior: “Let this be a serious reminder: road rage is a crime, not a moment of frustration. It endangers lives and will not be tolerated. Also, probation is not a right—it is a privilege. If you choose to ignore the conditions of your release, you choose the consequences, including jail time.”
