Asberry was stopped by law enforcement in August 2024 on a federal probation violation warrant issued by the U.S. Marshals Service. During the stop, officers discovered the drugs in his vehicle, leading to his arrest and subsequent prosecution.

The case was handled by Assistant District Attorney Michael Ferry, who also serves as a Federal Special Assistant United States Attorney. Authorities acknowledged the efforts of the Fort Worth Police Department’s Narcotics team and the U.S. Marshals Service in the investigation and arrest, noting their role in helping keep the community safe.
