Woman Killed After Confrontation Over Stolen Vehicle at Fort Worth Motel

Fort Worth police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Friday morning, December 12th,  at a motel on the 1800 block of Jacksboro Highway.

Officers were called to the location around 5:20 a.m. and found an adult woman with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. She was taken to a nearby hospital but later died.

According to preliminary information, the owner of a stolen vehicle spotted it at the motel. The theft had not yet been reported to police. The owner and a woman who was with him tried to recover the vehicle on their own. During that confrontation, the woman was shot.

The two people who had been inside the stolen vehicle ran from the scene before officers arrived.

Homicide detectives are handling the case and working to identify everyone involved. Investigators say the shooting appears to be isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Police also received information suggesting the same vehicle may have been linked to a drive-by shooting earlier that morning, though detectives are still working to confirm whether it’s the same car.
