DALLAS, TX - The Dallas Police Department says it is closely monitoring events nationwide following recent acts of violence in the United States and abroad, while emphasizing there are no credible threats to the City of Dallas at this time.
In a statement released Saturday, the department referenced several recent incidents, including an attack at Bondi Beach in Australia during a Jewish celebration marking the first night of Hanukkah that left at least 11 people dead, as well as a shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, that resulted in two deaths and nine injuries.
Dallas police said the department remains vigilant and continues to assess whether national or international incidents could have any impact on the city. The Dallas Police Department Fusion Center operates 24 hours a day and works in coordination with regional and national fusion centers and law enforcement partners to share intelligence and monitor potential threats.
With Hanukkah beginning Saturday evening, the department said it will maintain an established presence and heightened awareness at related events and locations throughout Dallas. Police noted they are proactively reviewing safety measures and staying in close communication with public safety partners.
Officials reiterated that the safety of residents, visitors, and city employees remains the department’s highest priority.
