Teen Dies a Week After West Dallas Shooting, Case Now Investigated as Homicide

DALLAS, TX - Dallas police are investigating a homicide after a 15-year-old boy died from injuries sustained in a shooting last week in West Dallas.

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers were called to Medical City Dallas in the 7700 block of Forest Lane at approximately 5:08 a.m. on December 6, 2025, after a juvenile arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. Investigators determined the teen had been transported to the hospital by a private vehicle after being shot near the 2500 block of Canada Drive, close to the Trinity Skyline Trail.

On December 13, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him as Eddie Mejia. Following his death, the offense was reclassified from an aggravated assault to a homicide.

Police say the suspect remains unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
