FORT WORTH, TX - A missing person investigation in Fort Worth has turned into a homicide case following the discovery of a body in a wooded area of north Fort Worth in Denton County.
On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the Fort Worth Police Department received a missing person report and opened a Major Case Unit investigation. As detectives reviewed the circumstances surrounding the disappearance, foul play was suspected, and the case was transferred to homicide investigators.
On December 22, 2025, homicide detectives located the missing individual buried in a shallow grave. Investigators determined the person was the victim of a homicide and learned the victim had last been seen leaving a party with a suspect on November 30, 2025.
Detectives identified the suspect as 23-year-old Alexander James Nicholas. Nicholas provided a statement to investigators, including a location where he claimed he last left the victim alive. However, evidence uncovered during the investigation contradicted his account, leading to his arrest.
Nicholas was taken into custody on December 24 and remains held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center on a murder charge. His bond has been set at $300,000.
Police say the suspect and victim were known to each other and that the incident appears to be isolated. The investigation remains active, and authorities say additional arrests are possible as more information develops.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death and confirm the victim’s identity.
