On December 31, 2025, Dallas Police Department South Central CRT officers responded to reports of multiple individuals openly carrying firearms in the 3300 block of Southern Oaks in the Cedar Crest area. Officers observed 12 to 15 individuals with handguns and rifles, and gunfire was soon reported near the entrance of the complex.
Uniformed CRT officers responded, leading to a foot pursuit and the arrest of six individuals. During the investigation, officers recovered seven firearms, including five handguns and two rifles—three of which were stolen—and one handgun had a machine-gun conversion device. Approximately 32.9 grams of marijuana were also seized. Two of the suspects are documented gang members.
