Dallas Man Gets 15 Years for DWI Crash That Killed Pedestrian, Driving Miles With Victim's Body

Nestor Lujan Flores

DALLAS, TX – A Dallas man who struck and killed a pedestrian while driving intoxicated, then continued driving nearly 40 miles with the victim’s body inside his vehicle, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot announced.

Nestor Luján Flores, 31, pleaded guilty to Intoxication Manslaughter and Collision Involving Death exactly two years after the deadly crash. Judge Collins of Criminal District Court No. 4 sentenced Flores to 15 years on both charges, to run concurrently. The court also entered a deadly weapon finding in the intoxication manslaughter case, requiring Flores to serve at least half of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

“This case is a stark reminder of the devastation caused by impaired driving,” said District Attorney Creuzot. “The victim lost his life, and a family was forever changed. This sentence reflects the seriousness of the defendant’s actions and holds him accountable for the harm he caused.”

Investigators determined Flores struck a 45-year-old pedestrian on the westbound Interstate 30 service road near Cockrell Hill Road in west Dallas on the evening of December 16, 2023. The impact was so severe that the victim was thrown into Flores’ vehicle. Portions of the victim’s remains were later recovered at the crash scene.

Despite the extensive damage to his vehicle, Flores continued driving west to White Settlement. Surveillance video later showed him pulling into a Jack in the Box parking lot shortly after 9 p.m., where he remained for more than two hours.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., White Settlement police were called after a customer reported a severely damaged vehicle and an unresponsive driver. Officers discovered the victim’s body in the front passenger seat. Flores never reported the crash.

A blood draw conducted early the following morning showed Flores had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.093. Investigators also confirmed Flores had a prior DWI conviction from 2020.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office credited the Vehicular Crimes Unit, along with the White Settlement Police Department, Plano Police Department, and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, for their work on the investigation.
