Man Sentenced to 50 Years in Deadly Home Invasion Shooting After House Party in DeSoto

Kristian Smith (defendant) and Wendon Blair (victim)

DALLAS COUNTY, TX - A Dallas County jury has sentenced 26-year-old Kristian Tyrone Smith to 50 years in prison for a deadly home invasion that began with a house party and ended in gunfire.

The case stems from events on November 4, 2021. That night, 25-year-old Wendon Lekeith Blair was hosting a small house party at his home, attended by seven other people. Among those at the party was Smith’s girlfriend.

Prosecutors said Smith, a long-haul truck driver, had been tracking his girlfriend’s location through his phone. After seeing she was at Blair’s home, Smith drove his semi-truck to the area and parked it about a block away. He then put on a ski mask and went to Blair’s door, demanding that his girlfriend come outside.

When Blair refused to let him in, Smith forced his way into the home. A physical struggle followed between the two men, which quickly escalated into an exchange of gunfire. Smith survived the confrontation. Blair was fatally shot and died at the scene.

Smith was later indicted on a capital murder charge, with burglary of a habitation listed as the underlying felony. The case went to trial in Dallas County, where testimony and evidence were presented over the course of two weeks.

On December 12, 2025, the jury returned a guilty verdict, convicting Smith of murder. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

The case was prosecuted by lead attorney Clint Stiffler, with Jessica Trevizo serving as second chair. Appellate support was provided by Jaclyn O’Connor, and the investigation was assisted by District Attorney Investigator Bonita Morgan. The case was originally investigated by the DeSoto Police Department.
