An abandoned paint factory at 801 Lee Street was demolished on July 23. This demolition is the culmination of extended efforts by multiple City of Irving departments to clear this property of dangerous and substandard buildings. The Building and Standards Commission issued orders to demolish or repair the structures. The paint factory was removed with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funding to assess the site for any possible underground tanks. Removal of these substandard buildings promotes the preparation of this site for redevelopment.
