IRVING, Texas - Edged US is moving forward with plans to build a second data center in Irving after the City Council unanimously approved the expansion this week, a project the company says will strengthen North Texas’ growing digital infrastructure while minimizing environmental impact.
The new facility will be part of what the company calls its “Edged Dallas campus,” though both data centers are located in Irving. Construction is set to begin in the second quarter of 2026 on North Wildwood Drive, in the industrial area east of Highway 12 and south of Highway 183. The first Edged facility at the site opened in January 2025.
Edged US said the second data center is designed specifically to support high-density artificial intelligence workloads. The facility will deliver 24 megawatts of critical capacity and use closed-loop, waterless cooling and ultra-efficient energy systems. Company officials estimate the design will save more than 92 million gallons of water annually compared to traditional data centers, while achieving an average power usage effectiveness of 1.15.
“As demand for AI infrastructure accelerates, efficiency and speed of deployment matter more than ever,” said Bryant Farland, president and chief executive officer of Edged US. He credited the City of Irving and local economic development partners for supporting what he described as sustainable, future-ready infrastructure.
The project received unanimous approval from the Irving City Council, reinforcing Irving’s role as a technology and innovation hub within the Dallas–Fort Worth region.
“Irving continues to attract investment in future-shaping technologies,” said Rick Stopfer. “Edged’s decision to expand its campus here underscores our shared commitment to sustainable growth and will deliver lasting economic benefits to South Irving and the wider North Texas region.”
City and business leaders also pointed to Irving’s location, infrastructure, and workforce as key factors behind the expansion. The second facility will add to Edged US’ growing North American portfolio, which includes data center campuses in Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus, Phoenix, and other major markets.
Construction on the new Irving data center is expected to begin later this spring, with completion timelines to be announced as development progresses.
