DALLAS COUNTY, TX - A Dallas man has been sentenced to four decades in federal prison for his role in distributing large quantities of methamphetamine supplied from Mexico, federal prosecutors announced.
Orlando Gerardo Mejia-Mendoza of Dallas pleaded guilty in June 2025 to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. On January 14, 2026, U.S. District Judge Ada Brown sentenced him to 480 months, or 40 years, in federal prison.
According to court records, Mejia-Mendoza received shipments of liquid methamphetamine from Mexico throughout 2023. Some shipments contained as much as 20 to 25 kilograms at a time, purchased for roughly $1,800 per kilogram. Investigators determined that one Dallas apartment linked to Mejia-Mendoza was being used as an active methamphetamine conversion lab, where liquid meth was processed into crystal form. Agents found methamphetamine in multiple stages of conversion throughout the apartment.
In a separate apartment connected to Mejia-Mendoza, law enforcement recovered multiple firearms and large amounts of cash.
“This criminal spilled poison into our communities in exchange for money,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould, crediting the work of federal and local law enforcement for securing the conviction and lengthy sentence.
The investigation was conducted by the Dallas Homeland Security Task Force, which includes agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the Dallas, Coppell, and Grand Prairie police departments.
