DALLAS, TX - The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate Kenneth Brown Jr., who is wanted on a capital murder charge stemming from a fatal shooting earlier this month south of the Cedars neighborhood.
The homicide occurred on January 6, 2026, at Legendary Ink, a business located in the 2900 block of East 11th Street, near Cedar Crest Boulevard. Officers responding to a call at a business building in the area found 27-year-old Just Smith-Gibbs suffering from gunshot wounds outside. Smith-Gibbs was transported to a hospital, where he later died. Smith-Gibbs was the tattoo artist at the business and well-known in the Dallas arts and music scene.
Investigators have identified Brown as the suspect and obtained a warrant charging him with capital murder, the most serious homicide offense under Texas law. Capital murder cases involve aggravating factors that can carry the harshest penalties, including life without parole or the death penalty if convicted.
Brown is described as a 24-year-old Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
