Two Killed In Colleyville House Fire As Crews Battle Flames In Freezing Weather

COLLEYVILLE, Texas - Two adults were killed Saturday morning when a fire tore through a single-story home in Colleyville as firefighters battled dangerous conditions brought on by sleet, ice, and freezing temperatures.

The Colleyville Fire Department responded shortly after 10 a.m. to a reported structure fire in the 3600 block of Sweetbriar Lane. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions with flames pouring from the residence and were told that two people were still inside the home.

Fire officials said two other occupants were able to escape the house with minor injuries before firefighters arrived. One of those individuals was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Firefighters made multiple attempts to enter the burning home and search for the two remaining occupants while also working to contain the rapidly spreading fire. Despite those efforts, crews were unable to reach them in time. After the fire was extinguished, the two occupants were located inside the residence and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Several neighboring fire departments assisted in the response, including units from Grapevine, Bedford, North Richland Hills, Watauga, Hurst, and Haltom City. No firefighters were injured during the response, officials said.

The identities of the deceased have not been released, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
