Man Killed in Early-Morning Shooting at Fort Worth Home; Roommate Identified as Suspect

FORT WORTH, Texas - A man was killed early Friday morning after a shooting inside a Fort Worth residence, according to police.

On Friday, January 30, 2026, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Northwest Division officers with the Fort Worth Police Department were dispatched to a reported shooting at a home in the 2800 block of Northwest Loraine Street.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The Fort Worth Fire Department responded and attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police located an adult male suspect still at the residence. Investigators identified the suspect as 42-year-old Aaron Renteria of Fort Worth, who is believed to be the victim’s roommate.

Detectives are continuing to interview witnesses and gather evidence to determine what led up to the shooting. Authorities stated the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Reneria was taken into custody and booked into the Tarrant County Jail.  His bond was set at $100,000.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an examination to positively identify the victim and determine the official cause and manner of death.
