Lone Star Youth Orchestra to Present 'Echoes of Antiquity' Concert at Irving Arts Center

IRVING, Texas - The Lone Star Youth Orchestra will continue its 27th season with a concert titled Echoes of Antiquity on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Irving Arts Center, featuring an hour-long program of classical and contemporary works inspired by history, literature, and ancient civilizations.

The performance will take place at 7 p.m. in Carpenter Hall at the Irving Arts Center, located at 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving. Audience members are advised to allow extra travel time due to ongoing road construction along MacArthur Boulevard.

The program includes Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Overture-Fantasy from Romeo and Juliet, Felix Mendelssohn’s Nocturne from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the second movement of Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 100 in G Major (“Military”), Todd Parrish’s Ancient Wonders Suite, and Camille Saint-Saëns’ Bacchanale from Samson and Delilah.

The concert opens with Tchaikovsky’s dramatic depiction of Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, followed by Mendelssohn’s serene and lyrical evocation of nighttime enchantment. Haydn’s “Military” Symphony movement brings sharp contrasts and theatrical surprises, while Parrish’s modern work guides listeners through musical portraits of legendary landmarks such as the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Temple of Artemis. The program concludes with Saint-Saëns’ Bacchanale, a vivid and escalating dance scene that foreshadows the downfall of the biblical hero Samson.

Single tickets are available online at IrvingArtsCenter.com, by phone at (972) 252-2787, or at the door. Ticket prices are $7.50 for students and $14.50 for adults.
