Fort Worth SWAT Responds After Barricaded Individual Fires Shots Inside Home

FORT WORTH, TX - Fort Worth police took an individual into custody Friday after gunshots were heard inside a residence during a crisis follow-up call.

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, North Division officers responded to a residence near the 800 block of San Miguel Trail for an investigation call. Upon arrival, officers located an adult experiencing a crisis. The department’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) responded to assist.

Police said no offense had been committed at that time, and an information report was generated. As part of standard protocol, a follow-up visit was scheduled for the next day.

On Friday, February 20, CIT returned to the residence for the planned follow-up. When officers attempted to communicate with the individual, he barricaded himself inside the home.

While officers waited for additional resources, gunshots were heard coming from inside the residence. Authorities said it remains unclear whether the shots were directed at officers or fired randomly within the home.

The Fort Worth Police Department’s SWAT and Directed Response Units were called to the scene.

After several hours of communication, the individual exited the home. Officers continued speaking with him and ultimately took him into custody without incident.

He was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
