Arlington Teen Sentenced to 30 Years for Deadly Vape Deal Shooting

Joshua Nunn

FORT WORTH, Texas — An Arlington man has been sentenced to three decades in prison after pleading guilty to murder in a 2024 shooting connected to a vape pen transaction.

On Friday, February 20, 2026, 18-year-old Joshua Kavaun Nunn pleaded guilty to Murder in Tarrant County. A judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison.

The conviction stems from a June 24, 2024, shooting in the 400 block of Claire Court in Arlington.

Victim: Jesus Galarza

According to investigators, Nunn arranged to meet two men to purchase vape pens. When the victims arrived at the location in a vehicle, Nunn opened fire, striking both occupants. Arlington Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 7:24 p.m. and located 18-year-old Jesus Galarza and a 20-year-old passenger suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to area hospitals. Galarza succumbed to his injuries two days later, on June 26, 2024. The surviving passenger recovered from his injuries.

Detectives determined the shooting was connected to high-risk drug activity and concluded Nunn had ambushed the victims during the planned meeting.

On June 27, 2024, Nunn turned himself in at the Tarrant County Jail, where he has remained in custody throughout the case.

The prosecution was handled by Assistant District Attorney Dani Wojciak, with District Attorney investigators Marcus Rink and Steve Groppi assisting in the investigation.
