PLANO, Texas — A 15-year-old boy was killed Monday afternoon after a vehicle crossed the center median and collided with an SUV on Independence Parkway, according to Plano Police.
At approximately 12:00 p.m. on March 2, 2026, Plano Police officers and Plano Fire-Rescue personnel responded to a traffic crash in the 600 block of Independence Parkway, northbound.
Preliminary investigation indicates a blue Chevrolet Volt was traveling southbound when the driver lost control, crossed the center median, and struck a white Lincoln Navigator that was traveling northbound.
The Navigator was occupied by four individuals. A 15-year-old male passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene by Plano Fire-Rescue. The remaining three occupants were transported to a local hospital; the extent of their injuries has not been released.
The driver of the Chevrolet Volt was not transported for medical treatment.
Authorities are withholding the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators said speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Plano Police Traffic Unit.
