State Shuts Down Plano Massage Academy Over Fraud, Safety Violations

PLANO, Texas - Texas State regulators have ordered the immediate shutdown of a Plano massage school after uncovering serious violations and potential public safety risks.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) issued an emergency order halting operations at Greater DFW Intl Massage Academy LLC and revoked its massage school license. The school was located at the 1100 block of E. Parker Rd.

According to TDLR, the decision followed findings of significant violations, including falsified student records and failure to meet required education and attendance standards.

Investigators determined the school allowed students to remain enrolled despite not completing any clock hours for extended periods. Officials also found the school granted academic credit before students obtained required Massage Student Permits and submitted attendance records for time periods that had not yet occurred.

TDLR said the violations raised broader concerns about public safety, including the possibility that individuals were able to obtain massage therapy licenses without completing proper training.

The agency also identified connections between individuals associated with the school and illicit massage businesses, including locations where evidence of human trafficking had been observed.

Officials said immediate action was necessary to protect the public.

“Massage therapy is a respected profession that plays an important role in the health and wellness of Texans,” said TDLR Executive Director Courtney Arbour. “We will not tolerate fraudulent conduct that undermines that profession or puts the public at risk.”

TDLR is now working to assist legitimate students affected by the closure, providing guidance on verifying completed education hours and continuing the licensing process.

Under the emergency order, the school must cease all operations and is prohibited from offering massage education services in Texas unless authorized by the state.
