HALTOM CITY, Texas — Three people, including a child, are dead following a shooting Friday afternoon in the parking lot of Birdville ISD Stadium, according to police.

Officers with the Haltom City Police Department responded around 4:30 p.m. on March 27, 2026, to reports of a shooting in the 6100 block of East Belknap Street.

Upon arrival, officers located two female victims inside a vehicle. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second was transported to a hospital, where she later died. A male, identified by police as the suspect, was also found dead in the parking lot.

Investigators said the incident stemmed from a domestic situation and is not related to Birdville ISD activities.

According to police, the suspect drove up to a parked vehicle, argued with a woman inside while a child was also in the car, and then fired into the vehicle. Both the woman and the child were killed. Police said the suspect then died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In a message sent to parents, Cheney Hills Elementary School confirmed the child was a kindergarten student at the campus.

“We are devastated by the loss of one of our students and heartbroken that this tragedy occurred in our community,” the school said in a statement. “The loss of a student is always difficult and filled with a variety of emotions. Our teachers and staff will work with our students and families as we navigate this emotional time together.”

District officials said crisis counselors will be available on campus Monday to support students and staff.

The investigation remains ongoing.
