FORT WORTH, Texas — A 16-year-old boy is dead following an apparent accidental shooting Sunday afternoon at an apartment complex in Fort Worth.
Police were dispatched around 5:17 p.m. on April 5 to the 6600 block of South Hulen Street after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 16-year-old male with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to investigators, two teenagers were inside a residence when one of them accidentally discharged a firearm, striking the victim in the chest.
The 16-year-old suspect was detained at the scene.
Fort Worth Police homicide detectives are now leading the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the victim and determine the official cause and manner of death.
