TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — A Grand Prairie man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after violating probation tied to multiple violent offenses, including assaulting a pregnant woman.
On April 2, 2026, Tarrant County Judge Elizabeth Beach sentenced 27-year-old Marcel McCormick after revoking his probation for assault of a pregnant person and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
McCormick was originally arrested in June 2023 by Arlington police for assaulting a pregnant person. In a separate case, Saginaw police arrested him in August 2023 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
After being placed on probation in Tarrant County, McCormick was later charged with sexual assault on April 5, 2025, in Wise County. Authorities said the charge came nine months after he was placed on probation. He then fled to Hawaii.
Investigators, including Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office Investigator Bruce Blaisdell, located McCormick in Hawaii and returned him to Tarrant County to face the charges.
Judge Beach sentenced McCormick to the maximum sentence on both underlying cases following the probation revocation.
The case was prosecuted by Samantha Fant and Jeanne Truglio. Investigators Briant Thomas and Ben Lopez assisted in the case, along with victim advocates Clara Salvatierra and Angela Stevens.
