480 Pounds of Liquid Meth Found After Fatal Fort Worth Crash Kills Two

FORT WORTH, Texas — What began as a fatal traffic crash investigation turned into a major narcotics case after authorities discovered an estimated 480 pounds of suspected liquid methamphetamine inside a wrecked vehicle, according to Fort Worth police.

The crash happened around 11:28 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026, near 1940 Delga Street, north of Downtown.

Central Division officers and Fort Worth Fire responded and learned the vehicle struck an unoccupied parked car before traveling a short distance and coming to a stop.

First responders found an adult male passenger dead inside the wrecked vehicle. Fort Worth Fire provided medical care to the adult male driver, but he was also pronounced dead at the scene.

While investigating the crash, Fort Worth Fire personnel discovered a large quantity of an unknown chemical inside the vehicle, prompting authorities to secure the area and call in traffic investigators and narcotics officers.

Investigators said 10 white plastic buckets filled with liquid were found inside the vehicle. The substance later tested presumptive positive for liquid methamphetamine.

Authorities estimate the total weight at 480 pounds, with a potential street value between $1 million and $3 million.

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Clandestine Lab responded to collect, analyze and dispose of the hazardous materials.

One Fort Worth firefighter was taken to a local hospital after possible exposure but was expected to be released Friday and is reported to be in good condition.

The identities of the two men found in the vehicle have not yet been released. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation remains ongoing.
