DALLAS — A Mexican citizen who was in the United States illegally has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
Alejandro Orozco Ramirez, 26, was sentenced April 13, 2026, by U.S. District Judge Sam A. Lindsay after being convicted of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute approximately 14 kilograms of methamphetamine.
According to court records, between May 9 and June 18, 2024, Orozco Ramirez agreed to supply co-defendant Santiago Prado-Gonzalez with about four kilograms of methamphetamine for redistribution.
Authorities said Orozco Ramirez was intercepted and arrested by law enforcement while en route to deliver the drugs.
During sentencing, prosecutors said officers searched his residence and found an additional 10 kilograms of methamphetamine, $5,340 in cash, a drug ledger, a drug scale and four firearms.
Among the weapons recovered was an AK-47 described as capable of fully automatic fire.
Federal prosecutors also noted Orozco Ramirez was illegally present in the United States at the time of the offense.
Co-defendant Santiago Prado-Gonzalez is scheduled to be sentenced July 20, 2026.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Dallas Field Division, working with the Texoma High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, Richardson Police Department, Hickory Creek Police Department, Dallas Police Department, the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, and the DEA’s office in Sioux City, Iowa.
Assistant U.S. Attorney George Leal prosecuted the case.
