DENTON, Texas - The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man who died in an apparent murder-suicide Sunday afternoon as Denton police continue investigating the fatal shooting.
Officers with the Denton Police Department and Denton Fire Department responded at approximately 2:35 p.m. on Aug. 9 to a residence in the 1900 block of North Bell Avenue following reports of a shooting.
When first responders arrived, they found a man and a woman outside the residence. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Points to Murder-Suicide
According to the Denton Police Department, witness interviews and evidence collected at the scene indicate the man fatally shot the woman before turning the gun on himself.
The medical examiner identified the man as Collin James Farley, 31, of Arlington.
Authorities said Farley died from a shotgun wound to the head and was found on the sidewalk outside the residence.
Victim's Identity Pending
The female victim's next of kin have been notified, but police said her identity has not yet been publicly released because officials are awaiting positive forensic identification.
Detectives have confirmed that the woman and Farley were previously in a relationship.
Investigation Ongoing
The Denton Police Department said the investigation remains active.
