SWAT, Negotiators Respond to Hostage Standoff in Providence Village After Man Threatens Women

PROVIDENCE VILLAGE, Texas — A hostage situation tied to a domestic incident prompted a major law enforcement response overnight after a man called 911 claiming he was holding two women hostage and threatened to shoot them if officers approached, according to Aubrey police.

Officers were dispatched about 11:30 p.m. April 20, 2026, to the 12100 block of Thoroughbred Drive on a deadly conduct call.

Police said a male caller told 911 he had two female hostages and weapons inside the home and threatened to shoot the women if officers came near the residence.

The caller then disconnected and did not respond to follow-up attempts to reestablish contact, authorities said.

Responding officers arrived and found a broken window on the side of the residence before establishing a perimeter.

Because of the threat, police activated the Special Operations Response Team.

At about 1:16 a.m., a juvenile female was released from the home and exited safely, police said.

Authorities said information provided by the juvenile led officers to request additional resources.

The Denton Police Department’s SWAT team later arrived and was assisting with negotiations, according to police.

Authorities said the incident stems from a domestic relationship involving people known to one another.

The situation remained active, and no additional information was immediately released.
