DALLAS, Texas — The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office has received a $499,910 federal grant to enhance the investigation and prosecution of sexual assault cases, officials announced.
The funding, awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women, will support the DA’s Office Sexual Assault Division by adding a dedicated prosecutor and a victim advocate. Officials said the resources will also expand trauma-informed approaches aimed at improving how cases are handled and how survivors are supported throughout the legal process.
The grant was announced during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which focuses on raising awareness and supporting survivors of sexual violence.
“Sexual Assault Awareness Month is a time to recognize survivors, raise awareness, and reaffirm our commitment to justice,” said Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot. “This funding allows us to build on that commitment by enhancing our ability to prosecute these cases effectively while providing meaningful, victim-centered support. Survivors in Dallas County deserve to be heard, believed, and protected.”
Officials said the funding will also strengthen coordination between prosecutors, law enforcement agencies and victim advocacy organizations, with the goal of improving case outcomes and providing a more unified response to sexual assault cases.
The grant is part of a broader nationwide initiative focused on improving responses to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office said the investment will support evidence-based practices and specialized resources aimed at increasing community trust and enhancing public safety.
