RICHARDSON, Texas — An officer-involved shooting occurred Monday afternoon following a reported robbery in progress, according to the Richardson Police Department.
Officers responded around 4 p.m. May 4 to a business in the 1400 block of East Belt Line Road. Upon arrival, police were told the suspect was armed and had fled the scene on foot.
Authorities said officers located a person matching the suspect’s description walking east of the business and attempted to make contact. During that encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was struck and transported to a local hospital. Officials said the individual’s condition is currently unknown. No officers were injured.
The incident remains under active investigation, and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
Police also reported that both eastbound and westbound lanes of Belt Line Road are closed between North Plano Road and North St. Johns Drive. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
